'' Kanyashree Prakalpa - - Empowering Girls Through Education''

Kanyashree Prakalpa is a flagship welfare scheme launched by the Government of West Bengal in 2013, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The primary goal of this initiative is to promote the education and empowerment of girls. And prevention of early marriages is one of the main purpose of this scheme , which have long been a social challenge, especially in rural areas. The scheme targets girls between the ages of 13 and 18, giving financial support to ensure that they remain in school and continue their education.

The scheme is divided into two key components: '' K1 annual scholarship'' and ' 'K2 one-time grant'' . Under K1 component, girls receive ₹1,000 annually if they are unmarried and enrolled in school. K2 component provides a one-time grant of ₹25,000 to girls once they turn 18, as long as they are still unmarried and pursuing education or vocational training. This financial support aims to reduce school dropout rates and delay marriage until girls are more educated and capable of making independent decisions.

Kanyashree Prakalpa has been extremely successful to reach its goals. Since its launch, the scheme has helped millions of girls in West Bengal to continue their education and delay marriage. It has particularly benefited those from economically disadvantaged families, for whom financial restrictions often lead to early marriage. The program has been recognized internationally, receiving the prestigious '' United Nations Public Service Award'' in 2017 for its contribution to gender equality and the empowerment of young girls.

In conclusion, Kanyashree Prakalpa is a visionary initiative that has transformed the lives of countless girls in West Bengal. It promotes education, delays early marriages, and provides girls the opportunity  to shape their own futures.
